People in Need (PIN) is a Czech non-governmental organization that provides relief aid and development assistance while working to defend human rights and democratic freedom. It is one of the largest relief and development organizations in post-communist Europe and has administered projects in 37 countries over the past 30 years. From 2009 onwards, PIN has added development programmes to its work in Moldova, building a vision and practices that keep people and communities at the centre of our work. Throughout its presence in the country, PIN has been contributing to the development of the following sectors: Sustainable Livelihood and Environment, Social Inclusion and Protection, Good Governance.

Position Overview: 

Under the overall supervision of the Finance Manager, the Finance Assistant supports the Finance Manager and the Finance Officer to maintain efficient and effective management of the portfolio of subgrantees.
 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the Finance Manager and Finance Officer to maintain an efficient and effective management of the portfolio of subgrantees;
  • Provide assistance/training/coaching to grantees as regards financial/accounting aspects of grant contracts implementation;
  • Review of subgrantees’ financial report packages. Review receipts for validity and appropriateness of expenses reported, according to the donor requirements and financial reporting guidelines;
  • Communicate with subgrantees regarding the review results;
  • Preparing of grant invoices and initiation of their approval process;
  • Review of the subgrantee’s budget proposals;
  • Enter new subgrant records and update subgrantee data;
  • Assist Programmes in budgets preparation;
  • Assist Managers during annual and donor-specific audits.
Requirements:
  • 2 years of experience;
  • College diploma or University Degree;
  • Previous experience with non-profit organizations is desirable;
  • High level of attention to detail in all aspects of job responsibilities and excellent organizational skills;
  • English: Basic proficiency;
  • Romanian: Fluent in all aspects;
  • Russian: Recommended or required for some areas;
  • Friendly with numbers & people;
  • flexible, adaptable, fast learner.
