Nine young people become Digital Ambassadors and will turn ideas into actions for their communities
Published: Aug 4, 2026 Reading time: 3 minutes Share: Share an articleNine young people from different regions of the Republic of Moldova have been named Digital Ambassadors within the “Inspire Change Now” campaign, implemented by People in Need Moldova through the INSPIRĂ Moldova project, funded by the European Union. The award ceremony marked the completion of an initiative that encouraged young people to use the online environment to promote civic engagement and topics relevant to their communities.
Held between 30 March and 30 June 2026, the campaign brought together young people aged 14 to 35, who created social-impact video content addressing topics such as combating disinformation, environmental protection, social inclusion, children’s rights, professional development, and civic participation. Through their stories and messages, participants demonstrated that digital platforms can become powerful tools for information, dialogue, and community mobilisation.
Following the evaluation process, nine participants were selected for the originality, relevance, and impact of their messages, becoming Digital Ambassadors.

And often, these are young people. The European Union stands with you so that your ideas can come to life, so that you can get involved in your communities and demonstrate that every voice matters. Do not wait for the future – help build it, starting today,”said Irina Beșliu, Civil Society Programme Officer, Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.
Beyond recognising the participants’ achievements, the award ceremony also opened a new stage of the programme. Digital Ambassadors were invited to present their own community initiatives inspired by the topics promoted during the campaign. People in Need Moldova will assess the possibility of supporting the implementation of the most relevant and feasible proposals by providing the necessary goods, worth up to 5,000 MDL for each selected initiative, thus giving young people the opportunity to turn ideas into actions with real impact.
“What we celebrate today goes beyond creativity or social media skills. We celebrate civic engagement expressed in the language young people know best – the digital language. At a time when the Republic of Moldova faces challenges related to disinformation and declining civic participation, especially among young people, these nine ambassadors have chosen a different path. They chose to inform, inspire, and encourage others to get involved,”said Rafal Chibowski, Country Director, People in Need Moldova.
For participants, the Digital Ambassadors Programme represented more than a content creation campaign. It was an opportunity to make their voices heard, inspire other young people, and demonstrate that change begins with everyone’s involvement.
“The experience within the campaign was an opportunity for me to make my voice heard in the community, contribute to combating disinformation, and inspire other young people to become active and engaged. I understood that each of us can contribute to change, and sometimes a single message can have a greater impact than we imagine,”said Alexandra Gheorghiță, Digital Ambassador.
Through this programme, People in Need Moldova continues to support young people who choose to use the digital environment responsibly and actively contribute to the development of their communities. The campaign reflects the objectives of the INSPIRĂ Moldova project, demonstrating that civic participation and democratic dialogue can also be strengthened through online platforms when they are used to inform, inspire, and generate positive change.
About the project
The INSPIRĂ Moldova project aims to strengthen the role of civil society in Moldova in influencing public policies and contributing to the country’s European integration. The initiative supports the involvement of civil society organisations in decision-making processes at national and local levels, including in the digital space, and promotes dialogue and cooperation with public authorities.
The project is implemented by a consortium consisting of the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD), Centre for Policies and Reforms (CPR Moldova), National Assistance Centre for NGOs in Moldova (CONTACT), People in Need (PIN), European Association for Local Democracy (ALDA), and Democracy Reporting International (DRI).
