Opening the event, Adam GRODZICKI, Team Leader for Economic Development and Deputy Head of the Cooperation Section at the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, stated:

“Today, we see stronger, more resilient organizations—trusted actors both in their communities and at the regional level. The project’s results demonstrate the European Union’s commitment to providing opportunities for grassroots civil society organizations, contributing to increased civic responsibility and active participation in community development. The results of this project confirm that partnerships between donors, local organizations, and communities can generate systemic change and real impact.”

Implemented between April 2024 and March 2026, the project aimed to strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations in the Republic of Moldova, enabling them to become more resilient, inclusive, and effective in promoting civic participation and democratic dialogue.

“Civil society is an essential partner for sustainable development, and strengthening its capacities contributes to long-term stability and progress. I congratulate the participating organizations for their outstanding results. The Czech Government consistently supports those who promote democratic values and the transformations needed to achieve them, as we know that societal change is made possible by active and dedicated community actors,”
said Barbora CHARVÁTOVÁ, Counsellor for Development and Economic Affairs at the Embassy of the Czech Republic.

Throughout the project, 10 civil society organizations benefited from comprehensive institutional development programmes, mentoring, and financial support, contributing to increased citizen engagement in community processes, advocacy initiatives, and cooperation with public authorities.

“This project has demonstrated that investing in the capacity of civil society organizations is a direct investment in the resilience of communities and in Moldova’s democratic future. Your organizations are, in fact, the bridges that connect communities with democratic values. Through your work, the voices of citizens are brought closer to the public space, enabling the changes people aspire to,”
concluded Rafał CHIBOWSKI, Country Director of People in Need Moldova.

Key results achieved at organizational and community level include:

- 39 thematic training sessions delivered

- 37 public policy documents developed or influenced

- over 1,100 direct beneficiaries and more than 330,000 people reached in communities

- 6 websites and 3 brand books developed for CSOs

- 9 study visits and multiple regional cooperation initiatives

- 6 environmental actions and community campaigns

- sub-granting programmes totaling over EUR 100,000

Through local interventions and cross-sector collaboration, participating organizations contributed to:

- policy dialogue and public consultations

- environmental protection actions and community cohesion

- initiatives addressing gender-based violence

- youth engagement in democratic processes

The project also facilitated regional cooperation between organizations from Moldova and Armenia, strengthening the exchange of best practices and collective action capacity.

Project activities also included a strong institutional development component, comprising organizational assessments, development strategies, individual and group mentoring programmes, and training sessions in areas such as: advocacy and public dialogue; strategic communication; fundraising and financial management; gender equality and inclusion; internal governance and leadership.

These interventions contributed to increasing the sustainability of participating organizations and strengthening the role of civil society in democratic processes in the Republic of Moldova.

The project “Resilient Civil Society in the Eastern Partnership Region” was implemented by People in Need, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic through the Transition Cooperation Programme.
