Hundreds of children and adults enjoyed fun, good times and delicious food at the unique events, which brought together Ukrainian refugees and the local community.

People in Need Moldova kept the children entertained with a variety of fun activities, including zip-lining, painting, social games and swimming pools. Some even tried their hand at cooking with the organisers and locals. The events were hosted by the Recreational Education Centres inaugurated by People in Need in Căușeni, Ocnita and Căplani.

"We decided to organise a holiday for children and young people, because this event brings together children of all nationalities and of all ages. We were happy to see here the children who attend our centres, but also the other local young people," said Anastasia Russu, Project Assistant, People in Need Moldova.

"After the war started, we wanted to help the refugees from Ukraine to integrate more easily into our community, so we decided to organise a picnic where everyone would cook something traditional," added Igor Hincu, co-founder of the social enterprise "EduJoc".

The event was organised with the aim of developing social cohesion in communities and facilitating the process of integration of refugees from Ukraine into the host community. The activity took place in the framework of the PLACE project, with financial support of the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid and co-financed by SOS Ukraine.
