People in Need Moldova financially supported the editorial development and printing of a new textbook and workbook for the Romanian language, officially launched on 23 May 2026 during an event held at the Ion Creangă State Pedagogical University, as part of Education Week 2026.
The organization’s contribution to the editorial preparation and printing of the materials amounted to approximately MDL 184,000, an investment aimed at improving access for students and teachers to modern and relevant educational resources that support the development of Romanian language communication skills.
The launch event brought together representatives of public authorities, educational institutions, teachers, and international partners to discuss the role of multilingual education and the Romanian language in strengthening social cohesion and civic participation in the Republic of Moldova.
“On behalf of my organization, People in Need from the Czech Republic, I am proud that we have been able to contribute to this initiative aimed at building bridges between communities. I would also like to thank the Ministry of Education and Research, our partners, and educators — everyone present here today — for their contribution to creating more inclusive opportunities, at many levels, for all people in the Republic of Moldova,”said Rafal Chibowski, Country Director of People in Need Moldova.
The new educational materials are intended to support both teachers and students across educational institutions and complement national efforts to expand Romanian language learning programmes for diverse target groups.
According to representatives of the education sector, interest in learning Romanian continues to grow, including among allophone communities and residents of the Transnistrian region. At the same time, national authorities and international partners continue to invest in teacher training, curriculum development, and the expansion of multilingual education in schools.
Through this contribution, People in Need reaffirms its commitment to supporting educational initiatives that promote inclusion, equitable access to education, and stronger social cohesion in the Republic of Moldova.
