Sixteen social workers in Ungheni have received new tricycles to help them reach beneficiaries living in remote or hard-to-access areas. The donation was made by the NGO Inovații Sociale through a grant worth over €10,000 from People in Need Moldova, under the regional project Resilient Civil Society in the Eastern Partnership Countries, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

The action is part of the local initiative 3D Mobility: Development, Delivery, Durability, marking the peak of Inovații Sociale’s involvement in the resilience project.

“We are grateful to our donors – the European Union and the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs – as well as to our partners at People in Need, for supporting our mission to improve working conditions for social workers, who need more mobility to reach those they care for,”
said Andrei Chiorescu, Director of Inovații Sociale.

The investment in transport equipment for social workers demonstrates the positive impact that a strategically supported local initiative can achieve.

“Social workers in Moldova do tremendous work, visiting dozens of vulnerable individuals in their homes. We are glad that, through this project, we could help them carry out their tasks more efficiently, reaching more people in less time,”
said Nadejda Pascaru-Botnaru, Programme Manager at People in Need Moldova.

The tricycles were donated to the Territorial Social Assistance Agency Centre-West and will be distributed based on local needs.

“In our region, over 60 social workers operate across Ungheni municipality and surrounding districts. Support like this helps us maintain high standards in social services and ensure better access for the most vulnerable,”
added Adriana Frasin, ATAS Centre-West representative.

Resilient Civil Society in the Eastern Partnership Countries is a regional project implemented by People in Need, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic through the Transition Cooperation Programme.
