Based on the assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and previous experience, the candidate will be assigned to a specific salary level.

Education & Work Experience
  • Interest in media and journalism;
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-year experience in a media-related field is preferable;
  • Good knowledge of Word and Excel;
  • Good knowledge of on-line communication tools (MS Teams, MS Outlook, Signal);
  • Fluent English and Romanian, fluency in Russian is an asset.

PIN’s Centre for Democracy and Human Rights, as one of its oldest departments is dedicated to protection of journalists, human rights activists and support of civil society organizations that seek to protect civil liberties, rule of law and democratic processes in their respective countries. Position overview: 

Chisinau-based Project Assistant is assisting the Project Managers based in Prague with planning and coordinating particular projects activities aimed at independent media in Moldova. The Project Assistant works under supervision of the Deputy Head of the East European Program in the following areas: organization of MHPSS and security related activities for journalists; communication with project participants, experts and service providers; administrative support to Prague-based PMs; gathering data for reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Daily communication with Prague-based PMs working on Moldova-related projects and Prague-based Line Manager;  
  • Supporting PMs in the organization of MHPSS activities for journalists and media managers in Moldova (retreats, workshops etc.);
  • Supporting PMs in the organization of security-related capacity building activities (related both to physical and digital security) for journalists and media mangers (trainings, mentoring etc.);
  • Occasional traveling to media outlets based in regions; occasional travelling to places where MHPSS and security activities are implemented; 
  • Communication with project participants, experts and service providers; 
  • Providing administrative support to Prague-based PMs with planning and conducting of project activities; 
  • Under the supervision of the Project Manager, providing information necessary for other departments to ensure the smooth operation of this project (especially Logistics, Finance, and Administration) 
  • Tracking of the progress achieved in project implementation and bring all emerging issues, delays, or challenges to the attention of the Project manager and Line Manager in timely manner; 
  • Preparing, collecting, and archiving field-level documents (e.g. attendance sheets) as appropriate throughout project implementation 
  • Effectively prioritizing tasks and seeking guidance from the Project Manager/Line Manager in case of any unclarities 
  • Assisting Prague-based PMs with preparation of reports for the donors;
  • Carrying out other duties as assigned by the Project Manager  
  • Communicating with project participants in a timely and secure manner;
  • Treating all work-related information with complete confidentiality; consistently follows security protocols agreed on by the project team.

Qualification:

  • Interest in media and journalism;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or its equivalent
  • 1-year experience in a media-related field is preferable
  • Strong coordination skills with proven ability to work with colleagues with different professional capacities and roles 
  • Fluent English and Romanian, fluency in Russian is an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to communicate with impact and respect 
  • Be available to work full-time (8 hours per day) 
  • Have the possibility and capacity to travel to the targeted districts in Moldova 
  • Ability to effectively manage time and handle multiple ongoing assignments;
  • Good knowledge of Word and Excel;
  • Good knowledge of on-line communication tools (MS Teams, MS Outlook, Signal);
  • Ability to properly handle sensitive information and to respect confidentiality rules.
